The Med Spa

Medical Skin Care Psoriasis Eczema

At Davie Dermatology & The Med Spa, we are committed to helping you achieve healthy and more youthful looking skin. Many of our treatments address problems with the top layer of the skin such as brown spots, sallow/dry looking skin, and fine lines/wrinkles. These issues can be improved with our outstanding skin care lines, mineral based makeup, exclusive sunscreens, and a customized treatment plan utilizing one or more of our rejuvenation treatments stated below. Additional treatments address the deeper layers of the skin and underlying muscles and involve the use of fillers and botulinum toxin. Finally, we offer treatment for unwanted hair, facial and leg veins and fat reduction. Our providers match the treatment to the problem and often use a combination of modalities to provide the best outcome. We want your procedures to “whisper, not scream”. Some of these treatments take place in the lower level of our building and some take place in the upper level of our building in The Med Spa.

Our approach is to match the treatment to the problem.

For example, wrinkles caused by “dynamic” muscle movement are best treated with botulinum toxins. Wrinkles created by a loss of volume are best treated with soft tissue fillers. Problems with pigmentation and overall tone of the skin are best treated with chemical peels, laser/light devices and a customized skin care regimen.

Davie Dermatology Treatment
We often employ several treatment modalities to attain the best outcome and achieve overall skin health, including:
  • Helping with skin pigmentation and overall skin tone and texture with a customized skin care regimen, chemical peels, and laser/light treatments
  •  Addressing wrinkles which are caused by “dynamic” muscle movement with botulinum toxin injections
  • Targeting wrinkles caused by a loss of volume with soft tissue fillers. This may include adding volume and filling specific lines. Fillers can also be used for lip augmentation and hand rejuvenation.
Botulinum Toxin
Botulinum toxins (BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, XEOMIN®) reduce wrinkles by temporarily interfering with the chemical communication between the nerve ending and the muscle. These products are typically used for wrinkles that are caused by “dynamic” muscle movement and can be used in the both upper and lower face. Our providers have extensive experience with the use of these products which are often used in combination with fillers for cosmetic enhancement. Botulinum toxin results typically last 3 months. Soft Tissue Augmentation/Dermal Fillers
The mainstay of soft tissue fillers for facial volume loss and wrinkles are products that contain Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acids are “polysaccharides” or sugars, which occur naturally in the skin and joints. They help to fill or plump the skin by attracting water to them. We offer a variety of Hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvaderm, Perlane, Restylane, and Belotero) and determine the most appropriate product based on the area being treated, depth of wrinkle, and amount of volume loss. HA fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
Hand Rejuvenation
As we age, our hands often show signs of volume loss, thinning skin and brown spots. Chemical peels and/or laser treatments can improve the tone and texture of the skin. Radiesse, a soft tissue filler, can be used to add volume back to the hands. Radiesse is a special type of filler comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres which fill the area being treated and stimulate the body to produce its own collagen. Radiesse can last from 1-2 years.
Chemical Peels
We can perform chemical peels on the face, hands or neck. They often reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes or mouth, improve the appearance of enlarged pores, reduce the inflammation associated with acne and rosacea, improve the appearance of scars, reduce freckles and dark spots, treat sun damaged skin and generally improve the appearance and feel of the skin. These peels are often categorized based on the depth of penetration. Chemical peels may be used in combination with other modalities such as skin care products (to prepare the skin for peeling), laser and micro-needling.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a treatment which utilizes fine crystals to exfoliate the skin by removing superficial layers of dead skin. As we mature, the rate at which we make new skin cells slows down often creating a sallow or dull look to the skin. Microdermabrasion treatments can be used to remove these dull layers of skin to reveal a refreshed and brighter skin tone.
Permanent Laser Hair Reduction
Laser hair reduction is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the country. This procedure beams concentrated light into the hair follicles and kills the hair from the root. It’s often used to remove hair on the face, arms, legs, underarms, bikini line, etc. The lasers target only the hairs, leaving the skin undamaged from the procedure.
Sclerotherapy
A treatment for varicose blood vessels that involves an injection of a salt solution which then causes inflammation, coagulation of blood, and the narrowing of blood vessel walls. After treatment veins fade within a few weeks. Sometimes multiple treatments are necessary for a lasting result.
Double Chin
Kybella (synthetic deoxycholic acid) is a prescription, cosmetic injectable agent used to treat fat underneath the chin (submental fat).  This acid is also found naturally in the body and aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.  When it is injected into the fat below the chin, the fat cells are destroyed which creates a noticeable reduction in the fullness under the chin and creates an improved chin profile.  Kybella is a non-surgical treatment option for persons who have fat but good skin retraction under the chin.  It is not designed for those who have a lot of skin laxity which would require surgery.  For more information visit our Kybella page HERE or MyKybella.com
Laser Vein Treatment
Lasers can be used to treat superficial (small) veins in the skin. The laser damages the vein which then develops scar tissue. The scar tissue causes the vein to close and eventually disappear. A simple laser treatment is done on the outside of the skin. Laser vein treatment is most often used for facial veins and diffuse redness of the face, neck and chest, but can be used to treat some forms of leg veins.
Micro-Needling
Micro-needling, also known as skin needling, rejuvenates your skin and is minimally invasive. The needles on the micro-needling machine penetrate the skin to create a controlled skin injury, causing the body to increase collagen production to repair the damage. Micro-needling can be used to minimize wrinkles and treat acne scars. Growth factors are often added to optimize the effect.
